Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish every week. This week we are all talking about the releases that we’re most looking forward to during the second half of 2015! There are quite a few, so let’s get started.
1. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
Amie Kaufman is a busy bee. I’ve only read one book from each author (These Broken Stars and Stormdancer, respectively) but I know from experience that both are talented writers and I’m looking forward to seeing how they work together now that they’ve teamed up. I will be reading This Shattered World and hopefully finishing The Lotus Wars before I read Illuminae, which sounds like an awesome space-y book.
2. The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness
Okay, so I have already read this but I loved it so much that I had to include it here. It’s a story about people who would usually be the random extras of a YA novel, and what their world is like when their schoolmates are running around and fighting zombies. Everyone should read every Patrick Ness book ever. They win awards for reasons.
3. Menagerie by Rachel Vincent
Rachel Vincent is one of my favourite authors and she’s bringing out three whole books this year. SO. EXCITED.
4. Ten Thousand Skies Above You by Claudia Gray
This is the sequel to A Thousand Pieces of You, which I read and loved a few months ago. It incorporates science fiction, time travel, and history really well, and while I had a couple of issues with it, I’m still really looking forward to reading this sequel.
5. Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine
This is another new release that will be incorporating history. This time it’s a history that I haven’t read much about yet: the Great Library of Alexandria. I’m interested in seeing how Caine goes about telling this story.
6. The Thorn of Emberlain by Scott Lynch
I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SERIES! I’m on the hunt for more Locke and Jean, and let’s hope that Sabetha stays far, far away because I’m not here for that romance. Locke/Jean, however, are OTP.
7. Walk On Earth A Stranger by Rae Carson
I have a copy of this waiting to be read, and I might just get to it this month. I’m really excited for more fantasy from Carson, even though I haven’t yet finished the Fire and Thorns trilogy. In fact, I might finish it before starting this. I am about to go on a plane for eleven hours, after all.
8. Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
Amie Kaufman is on this list twice because I want alllll the space books.
9. Go Set A Watchman by Harper Lee
There’s been a bit of drama surrounding this book, which is the sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird. However, since nothing out of the ordinary has been proven, I will be reading this book and catching up with my favourite characters.
10. Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas
MOST. ANTICIPATED. BOOK. OF. THE. YEAR. Probably. I neeeeed more Celaena. And Rowan. And Manon. And none for Chaol, bye.
OMG THAT COVER FOR MENAGERIE IS FUCKING BEAUTIFUL *___*
I didn’t put The Rest of Us on my list because I already read it too but YEAH! IT’S AWESOME! I’m probably going to reread it when it comes out.
Actually forgot about The Thorn of Emberlain but I haven’t read the third book yet. I don’t want to read them too quick and then have to wait so long while he writes the next one
After seeing Illuminae on quite a few lists this week, I have just added it to my TBR list! 🙂 I also need to read Heir of Fire and catch up with the series!
I am really excited about Walk on Earth a Stranger and Their Fractured Light. Go Set a Watchman is on my list too. I didn’t realize that Amie Kauffman was writing a book with Jay Kristoff. I’ll have to look into that one. As a librarian, Ink and Bone kind of appeals to me! I hadn’t heard of that one before.
There is just soooo much awesome in your post. I CAN’T EVEN PICK WHICH ONE I WANT MOST. I really loved Girl of Fire and Thorns and I only just literally realised that Rae Carson was the author of Walk on Earth a Stranger. So now I want it even more badly. hehe. And also totally agree with you about Patrick Ness. <3 That's one of my favourite books of this year! Here’s my TTT!
SO. MANY. BEAUTIFUL. COVERS.!
I got Illuminae for review and I cannot wait to read it – I hope the awesomeness within the pages matches the awesomeness of the cover and the template of the novel.
Ink and Bone and Queen of Shadows made my list too 😀 I cannot wait for them! And how did I forget about Ten Thousand Skies Above You?! Another one I cannot wait for!!! Great list 🙂
I need to experience Patrick Ness’ writing! Can’t believe I haven’t read one of his books before, I see him everywhere now haha 🙂 I hope you enjoy all of these! I’m excited to start the Starbound series! 🙂 Here’s my TTT if you would like to check it out! 🙂 Have a great day!
Great list! I had Go Set A Watchman on my list too. I am so excited for that one!
Hahaa, yes! I feel the same about Locke and Jean 😀 A reason why I didn’t like book 3 as much was that Sabetha came between their bromance and there were not enough awesome Locke/Jean-scenes. She was so boring…
I hope we will still get the book this year 🙂
Totally forgot to put Go Set a Watchman on my list!
I have only read one book by Patrick Ness (More than this) and I look forward to The rest of us just live here. It sounds interesting.
It’s great when one of your favorite authors brings out so many books! I have yet to read anything by her.
Ink and Bone sounds good. I need to get started in Lynch’s series. I’m currently reading Walk on earth a stranger and it’s great so far.
QUEEN OF SHADOWS. OBVIOUSLY. *lots of Chaol*
