Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week we’re sharing our top ten most read authors! I used Goodreads to help me with this, because I honestly wasn’t sure whose books I had read the most of. But now I know!
1. Jacqueline Wilson
I think every British teenager read a tonne of Jacqueline Wilson growing up, so it comes to no surprise that she is my #1 most read author. I’ve read a whopping 30 books by her, which cover topics such as mental illness, divorced parents, abandonment, drug addiction, eating disorders… Wilson is pretty much across the board. My favourites from her are probably The Illustrated Mum, Midnight, and Dustbin Baby.
2. Darren Shan
Again, this is not too shocking, considering Shan has a tendency to write really long series. My favourite, The Saga of Darren Shan, is twelve books long. They are tiny books, sure, but still. I’ve read 27 books by him, including the entire Saga and Demonata series, and some Zom-B.
To be honest, I was quite shocked to see Mead so high on the list! I’ve read 18 books from her, apparently, and yet I had no idea the number was that high. But I counted, and the number is accurate. There is the Vampire Academy series (six books), Bloodlines (four of which I have read), Dark Swan (four books), a novella, two graphic novels, and the hella boring Gameboard of the Gods.
4. Rachel Vincent
YES. I was expecting Rachel Vincent to be fairly high on my list as I read and loved both her Shifters series and the Soul Screamers. I need to finish the Unbound series, and her new book Menagerie comes out later on this year. Then Rachel and Richelle will be neck and neck.
5. Lynsay Sands
I’ve only read the Argeneau series by Sands, which is now almost thirty books long. I probably won’t ever be able to catch up, but I do want to continue the series when I’m next in a paranormal romance mood. By the time I got to book #15, the storyline was exactly the same over and over again and it was getting on my nerves. So I stopped at 15!
Like Wilson, Horowitz was a national treasure when I was growing up. I adored the Alex Rider series and I still hope to reread/finish it one day. I think I’m missing out on two books, which isn’t bad considering! I also started his other series, the one that starts with Raven’s Gate, and I would love to finish it but I can’t remember anything that happened!
7. Charlaine Harris
I’ve read 12 books by Harris and to be honest I was expecting the number to be higher. I obviously read some of the Sookie Stackhouse series (I got to Dead in the Family and got bored) and I’ve read three of the Harper Connelly series, which I do want to finish one day.
8. Maria V. Snyder
Again, I have no idea how I have read so many books by Snyder! My current total is 11, which includes the original Study trilogy, the Healer trilogy (boo), and the Inside duology. Then there were a couple of novellas.
9. Brandon Sanderson
Sanderson shot up to my top ten this year after I read the Mistborn trilogy and had to have more. I’ve read 9 books by him, including the three Mistborn books, The Alloy of Law, three books in the Stormlight Archive (The Way of Kings parts one and two, plus part one of Words of Radiance), Elantris, and Steelheart (meh).
10. Roald Dahl
I’ve read 9 books by this precious king. Obviously.
Love your choices, some really awesome authors and we share a couple!
My TTT
Jacqueline Wilson is top of my list too and I’ve only read about 15 of her books!
LOVED Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder. That is the only series I read by her, though. I also loved Soul Screamers by Rachel Vincent. I can’t wait to get into the Shifters world as well as read her new book, The Stars Never Rise. I’ve only read the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson but I have every intention of reading ALL of his books. It’s just that they’re so big and I don’t have a lot of time at the moment 🙁
Great list!

I have Charlaine Harris on my list as well. You should really check out the Midnight Texas series. I love it so much more than the Sookie books.
Great list! Some of those book, I will have to look into! Happy Reading & please feel free to stop by my blog.
