Where does the time go? We’re now officially more than halfway through our scheduled read of The Raven Boys, and it feels like the readathon only just began! I’m having a blast so far with the reread, and also checking out everybody’s posts and Ravenagrams that are being posted on Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr. My fellow readers are awesome, and I’m jealous of their creativity. Anyway, here’s a quick round-up post of what’s been going on over the past couple of weeks, and what’s still to come!
The Story So Far…
Everybody is freaking out because Blue has met Gansey, who is the guy that she’s going to kiss and kill (*sob*), which will probably be payback for the time he called her a prostitute. The gang have been looking for the ley lines together because apparently Glendower is buried somewhere along one, and it turns out that the boys’ Latin teacher used to do the same thing! Adam suggests that they will need to wake the ley line, and Gansey gets confirmation on the matter. Luckily, Blue is very in the know and is able to show them where the ley line is after deciding to try to FIGHT THE POWER and save Gansey from the Kiss of Death.
The boys along with Blue discover a forest called Cabeswater where time works differently. They come across a really cool tree that gives them visions. Adam’s vision is of Gansey dying because of him, Blue sees herself getting ready to kill Gansey, and Gansey sees Glendower. Do you see the correlation here? They come across a rock that has Ronan’s writing on it, which tells them that the trees speak Latin. Because of course. The trees direct them to an abandoned Mustang, and Noah suddenly gets sick.
Blue takes Gansey to the church. Gansey reveals that he’s looking for Glendower because he’s allergic to bees. And also because he almost died after being stung by hornets, but he heard a voice tell him that someone was dying on the ley line even though they shouldn’t be, so Gansey should live even though he shouldn’t. This is all because of Glendower. They discover Noah’s skeleton because OH MY GOD HE’S BEEN DEAD FOR SEVEN YEARS. Gansey confronts Noah, who confirms that he is a ghost, and the cops remove the skeleton, causing Noah to become more ghostly. They discover that Noah is the guy who died on the ley line when Gansey lived. He was meant to be a sacrifice to wake the ley line, which was a failure. Whoever wakes the ley line gets a favour or a gift.
Whelk pulls a gun out on Gansey and admits to killing Noah. Blue and Calla and Persephone discover that Neeve was contacted by Whelk. Gansey and co. arrive at Blue’s place. Neeve predicts that someone will wake the ley line in the next few days. Ronan takes Adam home. Adam gets hit by his father. Ronan sticks up for him. Police arrive, and Adam presses charges (because he loves him).
And if you managed to stop reading there, then good on you. I’m envious of your self-control!
Tell us what you think
If this is your first time reading, did you see any of that coming?! NOAH?! I was unfortunately spoiled by accidentally reading Maggie’s recap on Recaptains while preparing to post it, so I knew he was dead from the beginning. Which kind of made the clues even better because Noah tells Ronan’s brother outright that he’s dead! Crazy stuff.
And even if you’ve read the books 24 times already (which I won’t judge you for because ERMEHGERD), I still want to know how the rererere(etc)read is going for you!

Scavenger Hunt: The Hunt for the Crown
So far, three clues have been secretly planted in our posts, including this one. Here’s what you should know about the clues so far:
- The clue (or clues, plural) will spell out the name of a place.
- It’s in code.
- The location of the crown is not mentioned in the series (we think).
And this week I’m going to tell you that we’re giving you one part of the code each week, so you’ll have to keep your Sherlock Hunting Thinking Caps on and try to put it all together as the weeks go on.
People have been posting some really great photos so far! I’m really jealous of all of your creative talents. The character that you have to emulate this week is ADAM! He was my favourite in The Raven Boys so I’m very excited for this one. Post a photo on your Instagram, social media sites, or blog, and show us what Adam has been up to during this readathon! Remember to tag your posts with #trcreadathon so we can check out the awesome.

That’s it for this week. I hope you’re all having a tremendous time and you’re enjoying reading the series along with everybody. Even though we’re already halfway through the first book, there is still plenty of exciting stuff to come which I am really looking forward to!
Gazooks! I can’t believe how quickly time is flying. I was supposed to publish my halfway through TRB post today but that didn’t happen. As usual, I’m behind schedule. So hopefully I have that posted by tomorrow. I’m excited for the 28th because that’s when I’ll be hosting my own challenge over on She Reads She Blogs with a giveaway of SIGNED hardcover copies of both TRC books! I’m really excited to post my challenge and see what kind of things people come up with 🙂
my post is now up!

YAY HALFWAY POINT!!! I’m absolutely LOVING it! I have been keeping a book of significant moments, information and possible hints as well as doing a twitter recap of chapters for The Raven Boys. 🙂 I have actually found a whole lot of foreshadowing for The Raven Boys, The Dream Thieves and the whole series!
And I love making pics and stuff for Ravengrams and searching for the second crown! 😀
Thanks so much to both Books of Amber and Readers In Wonderland for hosting this because it’s AWESOME!
