Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. It’s a weekly meme in which we get to do my favourite thing: make lists.
1. Reena (How to Love)
I don’t like cheaters, and Reena cheated not once, but twice, with the same guy. I lost patience with her quickly.
2. Sabetha (The Republic of Thieves)
There was so much hype and build up to Sabetha, but I think the legend got away from the girl. I tried really, really hard to connect with her and love her because I was expecting awesome things, but it was too hard. I didn’t find her intriguing or mysterious at all.
3. Adrian (Bloodlines)
I’m sorry! I liked Adrian well enough in Vampire Academy, but when he and Sydney got their own series I was just very indifferent about the whole thing. I still haven’t finished Bloodlines because I wasn’t invested in it like I was with VA.
4. Eve (Haunted)
This is a really long book series by Kelley Armstrong, and Eve is my friend’s favourite character so I was expecting to love her too. Unfortunately, she wasn’t very stand-out at all.
5. Isla (Isla and the Happily Ever After)
I thought Isla was too prone to falling in love too quickly. Oops.
6. Kai (Cinder)
I don’t get the hype. He’s just so DULL. Unlike Captain Thorne *heart eyes*
7. Alexandria (Half-Blood)
Mostly because she’s a Rose Hathaway rip off. THERE I SAID IT.
8. Alex (Burn for Burn)
I promise this isn’t just because I’m Team Reeve, it’s because Alex is dull, whiny, and has absolutely no personality aside from that. Not to mention he keeps going after Lillia even after she has said she’s not interested. GOOD LORD. MEN.
9. Wyatt (The Long and Faraway Gone)
I had such problems connecting to his half of the story. Not entirely sure why.
10. Chloe (Dangerous Boys)
I wanted to love Chloe, I really did, but there was nothing there to connect to. Then the ending came out of nowhere and I was just like D:
Ugh, Sabetha. I so wanted to love her. Instead she made me kind of hate both Locke and the book. I reeeeally hope that changes for book 4. If it ever gets published.
Oh my goodness, we’re probably the only two people on this world who don’t like Kai *high fives you from across the internets*. (He’s on my list too hehe.) I can’t stand the guy, honestly.
Reena: ugh, I have zero respect for cheaters.
Kai: I kind of like him, but his character can use more development.
I don’t know all of these characters, but Kai’s could definitely use some development, tbh. I just don’t know enough about him so I’m kinda ambivalent either way!
My friend and I were JUST having a discussion during our readalong about how neither of us like Kai all that much. I’m so glad to see we aren’t alone.
I am totally with you about Kai. Compared to Thorne + Wolf + all the ladies, he pales in comparison.
I totally agree with Chloe from Dangerous Boys, I wanted to like her but just couldn’t.
I agree, Sabetha isn’t the easiest to like. I don’t know why but I kind of loved and hated her at the same time? So many mixed feelings. Ooh, I love Captain Thorne too!
Great list!
Nooo my poor Adrian ;D but I agree 500% about #7 and I’ll say it with you…rip off!
Ahh! You didn’t connect with Mr Ivashkov!? That makes me so sad, Amber…
The only book I’ve read from this list is Cinder, and I agree about Kai. He seems like a pretty generic character, Thorne was definitely much more interesting!
