I was going to keep this post quite concise in an attempt to prevent myself from wanting ALL THE BOOKS, but apparently July is the month in which all the new releases are out. I’ve told myself that I’m only allowed to buy one of these, but let’s be honest, I have no self control.
I really enjoyed Stokes’ contemporary debut, The Art of Lainey, so I feel like I should read this to give the author another whirl. In this book, a Youtube star dies and his mourning girlfriend starts getting harassed.
Kasie West! She’s on my auto-buy list, even if I didn’t like her last contemporary all that much. I can’t even remember if I read it properly or if I skim read it. But anyway, in this book the main character wins the lottery, so I’m hoping it’ll be a fun rags to riches story.
When I’m in the mood to read about carnivals again, I’ll be picking this one up.
This one has a touch of Indian folklore and THAT COVER.
I’m probably going to be in the mood for a contemporary at some point this summer, right?
Hello, Sunshine is about a girl who moves to LA and becomes an actress. I doubt it turns out the way she expected it to.
This is the first of three thrillers that I really want to read in July. I’m really into thrillers at the moment (a couple of them broke my reading slump), so a book about stalkers sounds like something that I need.
The “Final Girls” are the survivors of a massacre. One of them dies, and then I imagine shit starts to go down.
I haven’t read the blurb for this one but Lapena wrote The Couple Next Door, which I read in June and really, really enjoyed. Sign me up for this one!
I’ve had Lucky in Love on my TBR too! I haven’t heard of What to Say Next but it sounds interesting. I think the popular kid befriending the not-so-popular kid is a little played out in YA contemporary, but I still can’t help myself from reading them. Great post! Hope you enjoy all the new reads on your list!
I always like the popular kid/not-so-popular kid trope. Not sure why! Sometimes there’s a tonne of drama, other times it’s really sweet, and I guess I enjoy both of those things haha.
I’ve already read “Final Girls” and even though it was a bit different than I had expected (it was less violent despite the massacres^^) it is definitely my favorite thriller of the year so far and had some very nice surprises.
I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did! 🙂
YES, I’m so glad you liked it! I’m so ready for another thriller right now. I’m in a weird mood at the moment and all I want to do is devour alllllll the thrillers. But I also don’t want to burn myself out. It’s a tough balance!
