I haven’t done any proper TBR posts in AGES and I missed them, so I wanted to bring them back to the blog. Coming up with a TBR pile for the month can go either way for me; I will either be really motivated and read like the wind and storm through that pile, or I’ll get really overwhelmed and I won’t read anything. But hey, it’s been working so far this year on my Booktube channel so I might as well post it here too.
1. The Finale Empire by Brandon Sanderson
Yes, this is a reread, but I wanted to reread it because IT’S EPIC AND I WANT TO EXPERIENCE IT ALL AGAIN. And Kelsier. And also #MistbornMondays is a thing and I wanted to join in with that, so I dragged Sana and Crini into it too and here we are.
2. Zeroes by Scott Westerfeld
I received this for review and I have to say, it sounds pretty good. It’s about a bunch of people with powers but they’re not very nice people and to me that sounds like the best plot.
3. The Scorch Trials by James Dashner
I have been wanting to read this book for YEARS. I read The Maze Runner when I first started blogging and bought this one soon after (in 2010, guys. 2010.) but I just never picked it up. Now that the movie is just around the corner, I have an excuse to finally pick it up!
4. Rampant by Diana Peterfreund
This is one that I’m reading for one of the book clubs that I’m a part of. Tatum, Dee, and I were part of another book club at the beginning of last year, and I missed it so I asked if we could bring it back. We each listed ten books and then used a random generator to pick our first book. And that was Rampant! Which is great, because I’ve owned it for ages and I really didn’t want to add to my TBR. Plus, it’s about killer unicorns.
5. The Gray Wolf Throne & The Crimson Crown by Cinda Williams Chima
I read the first two books last month and I want to continue on with this epic series about feminist queens and queendoms and thieves and pirates and wizards and magic. It’s awesome.
6. The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas
I want to reread this series before Queen of Shadows comes out this month, but I didn’t want to put too much pressure on myself so I will settle for just The Assassin’s Blade, which I have never read. But I really, really want to get to Heir of Fire because ROWAN AND AELIN.
7. Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier
I picked this for one of the Booktubeathon challenges and since I love time travel stuff, I have high hopes. I don’t own the other two books in the trilogy though, so I’m really hoping I don’t get the urge to bingeread it once I’m done!
8. The Dinosaur Lords by Victor Milán
This isn’t pictured because I’ve bought the ebook, but DINOSAURS AND KNIGHTS AND MAGIC. I’ve had my eye on this book for months and it is FINALLY out in the world. I really hope it’s great because I love dinosaurs so much and if it’s meh then I will cry.
What are your TBRs looking like for August?
Vane J. says
I didn’t buy anything for August – not yet anyway. I’m going to get my way through previous TBRs, because all I’m doing is accumulation books I will probably never read, sadly.
Cynthia @ Bingeing On Books says
Good luck with your TBR goals. I don’t normally like setting a monthly TBR because I don’t do well when I feel I am forced to read something. However, I have several ARCs with August publication dates and quite a few that will be published at the beginning of September. So I REALLY need to make a dent in those ARCs.

Oh my god, you never read “The Assassin’s Blade” such a sweet young soul.
