We’re somehow over halfway through the year and I don’t like it. Time is moving way too quickly. I feel like summer is going to be over before it has really begun, and I’ve not had time to properly enjoy it yet. But what I am enjoying is being back in the blogging mood, so I thought I’d take my mind off of how quickly this year is going and do a fun tag post. I can’t remember the last time I did one of these. Anyway, I discovered this tag through Melissa, and it was originally created by ReadLikeWildfire and Ely Jane.

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2017
The Hate U Give. To be honest, it was a toss up between this and The Kite Runner, but THUG is a more recent read and it’s fresh in my mind. Such. A. Good. Book.
2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2017
Traitor to the Throne because despite seeing many reviews that said it was a boring filler book, I freaking loved it. I adore the characters and Alwyn’s writing draws you in.
3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to
4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year
5. Biggest disappointment
By Your Side by Kasie West. I love West’s other contemporary (and sci-fi) books, so much so that she’s an auto-buy author. But this one didn’t grab me at all.
6. Biggest surprise
The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena. I wasn’t expecting it to be quite so intense.
7. Favourite new author. (Debut or new to you)
Angie Thomas!
8. Newest fictional crush
Okay, so I’ve lost my mind a little bit. I don’t actually have any new crushes or ships this year. I know?! There’s something wrong with me.
9. Newest favourite character
Bayaz from The Blade Itself. In fact, I love all of the characters, but Bayaz killed someone after they interrupted his bath. He’s a wizardy version of me.
10. Book that made you cry
Railsea made me cry tears of boredom. Not the best introduction to China Miéville’s work. Other than that, I’m not sure I’ve cried over a book yet this year. There’s still time.
11. Book that made you happy
12. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)
13. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
Is this a trick question? All of them!
AH, I’m sad you didn’t like By Your Side. I haven’t read it yet but it’s next on my TBR because EVERYONE keeps telling me to read it. hahah Also, TATBILB trilogy is so good! I still need to read the last one, though.
I hope you like it more than I did! I think I was just burnt out on fairly average contemporaries. It didn’t offer anything new 🙁 Jenny Han’s books are always so good!
Hiya, I’m finally visiting like I promised on my Twitter blog hop, like I promised last week 🙂 I also have no crush this year! Or maybe I did? But it was too long ago now..? Now that I think about it, I *could* pick someone from A Long Way To A Small, Angry Planet… 🙂
I’ll be doing this tag like next week!
Hi! I’m really surprised I don’t have a book crush because this NEVER happens. There’s someone in A Long Way To A Small, Angry Planet? Eep! I haven’t read that yet but it’s pretty high up on my TBR. Maybe that’ll be the book!
OMG it’s a great book!! Please read it! 🙂 it’s one of my best read of last year <3
