The last lines of a novel are often the most powerful. After you have read several hundred pages, fought off dragons and Dark Lords, witnessed deaths and breakups and excitement and tragedy, the last few words of a story are often what stay with you. I started this feature to highlight some of my favourite last lines and to share them with you, my fellow readers and lovers of words. All of the ones that I am going to feature have impacted me in some way, whether they simply caused me to burst into tears, or they hold a much deeper meaning. I promise there will be no plot-related spoilers! I hope you all enjoy this new feature of mine, and that you’ll take the time to share some of your Famous Last Words with me.
“That’s another thing you need to remember about families- sometimes everyone is just weird.”
Because this is so fucking true. Families are weird and annoying and odd but they’re still your family, whether you’re related by blood or family because of a stupid TV show about vampires. Ohana, yo.
“A part of me will always be unflyable, stuck in the climb.”
“Whether love of friend, love of country, love of God, or even love of enemy – love reveals to us the truly miraculous nature of the human spirit.”
Humans can be evil, but on the opposite side of that, humans can be pretty amazing when it comes to love. And no matter how oppressed or beaten down people are, the human spirit can never be completely extinguished.
That Code Name Verity quote…wow. I think I’m going to have to pick that one up soon 🙂
CODE NAME VERITY RUINS LIVES.
So you just made me want to read, like, all of those books. Especially Code Name Verity- I have the audiobook but I just really don’t like audiobooks so… yeah I’ll be getting a different copy soon. Love this feature! 🙂
This has to possibly be my favourite feature on your blog. I JUST LOVE IT. Plus you got to me with that Code Name Verity quote… *weeps over Verity and Maddie*
