Since I fell off the blogging bandwagon a couple of years ago, I wasn’t able to keep up with one of my favourite features on my blog. I absolutely love discovering new authors, and I love supporting the YA newbies, so this feature is one of my favourites. I wanted to bring it back this year because I’ve already read some great 2018 debuts, and I hope to read many more! Without further ado, here are the debut authors whose books are out in April.

2018 Debut Recommendations
People Like Us is a YA thriller set in a boarding school in New England. One night, a body of one of the students is found in the lake, and a murder investigation begins. The girls at this school are full of secrets, and you’re never sure what to expect from them. I didn’t see the ending coming, which is something I always look for in a thriller! Also, the main character is bisexual, and there are a tonne of other queer people at the school.
A Girl Like That is my favourite read of the year so far. It’s set in Saudi Arabia, and it shines a light on the culture there, and what it is like being a teenage girl in the Middle East. It’s absolutely incredible, and I’d recommend it to everyone.
Out of the Blue is a bit different to my usual recommendations in that it kind of fits into the paranormal or magical realism genres. Shortly after the main character’s mother dies in an accident, winged Beings start falling from the sky. The book addresses grief and friendship, and the main character is a lesbian!
I literally want to read all of the April debuts
