This is a weekly meme hosted by Jennifer at Crazy-For-Books in which you answer a weekly question, and then go and chat with other bloggers about their answers!
This week’s question is:
“What do you consider the most important in a story: the plot or the character?”
I think both are equally as important. Without a strong plot then a good character would make no difference. There would be nothing good for the character to do! But then, a strong plot with an annoying character.. I would hate that too. A character drives the story, and without them it wouldn’t have a plot!
What did you study in college, or are currently studying and did it lead to your current 9 to 5 or are you doing something totally different?
I’m still in high school studying A Levels. I have another year to go after this one, so I’ll finish high school in 2012 ๐ I’m currently studying ICT, Biology and English Literature, as well as teaching myself Spanish – if that counts ๐

Hola! Spanish is the best if you ask me haha ๐

Hi Amber! Just stopping in via the hop to say hi and have a great weekend. I agree both characters and plot are vital, but I tend to overlook a less than stellar plot if there are great characters:) And teaching yourself Spanish definitely counts! Glad to be a new follower here and I look forward to reading your posts!

I agree that both are important! But if one has to lack, I prefer a good storyline. I’m a new follower. My hop is at Coffee Table Press

I agree that both are important, but I really need good characters to feel connected with a story.
Hope you have a nice weekend!

If I have to choose one…plot. Even if you hate the characters, you can still want to know what’s going to happen if the plot is great.

Hola! Que bueno que estas estudiando Espanol! Que tengas buena suerte en tus estudios!
Living in Mexico for the past 15 years, I’ve learned the language pretty well. I think it is great you are taking the initiative to learn the language. Forgive me for missing the accent in the above spanish. I am typing from my english keyboard;-)

This might be the best Book Blogger Hop question I’ve seen to date.
So what’s the answer? Plot! Hop over to my blog and let me tell you how a good plot rescued bad characters from bad book oblivion.

I hated Spanish. Languages are most definitely not my forte. I am taking Bio and English Lit though ๐ Good luck with the January modules (I’m guessing you have bio ones?)

Hi, from the follow I am a new follower from across the pond. That is one of the things I find most amazing about the internet – how it has made the world smaller. But I live in a state we all say is a small town – everyone is connected somehow – by maybe 4 degrees of separation max.

This will probably come of something as a surprise but the book that changed/influenced my life (more than any other) is a non-fiction book. I know we all focus on novels and the fanciful fiction we love to read but The Four Work Week is the book that gets all the credit. I know the title sounds fictional but it really isn’t. Hop over to my blog and find out why – http://www.howardsherman.net
Happy Book Blogger Hop Day!
