As some of you may know, I’m a lover of travelling. I try to visit at least one new place every year, and I always love visiting old places so I can revisit beloved sites or buildings or locations. While reading Layover, I started daydreaming about what I would do if I had forty eight hours to myself in Los Angeles. In the book, the main characters (all siblings) ditch their phones and their parents, and basically go rogue for a few days. It left me wondering what I would do if I was in the city and I came up with the following list.
- Griffith Observatory
In another life, I would have been an astronomer. A friend of mine actually had a telescope in her apartment, and I was sooooo freaking jealous because I wanted to be able to see the planets as well. I’m going to try to convince my boyfriend to buy a telescope with me when we move so I can stargaze. Visiting the Griffith Observatory must be so much fun!
- Venice Beach
I’m not a massive fan of the beach, but it would be nice to visit the famous Venice Beach for a short time. If I’m only in Los Angeles for forty eight hours, I can take a stroll along the beach and not spend too long there. That way I won’t get too sunburnt, and there is less chance of sand getting everywhere. Also, I really enjoy people watching when I’m travelling and Venice Beach would be perfect for that!
- Santa Monica Pier
Have I told you how much I love amusement parks and fairs? I love them a whole lot.
- Hollywood Sign
I don’t think you can go to Los Angeles and not hike to the Hollywood sign, right? From what I can tell, it’s actually behind a fence and you can’t go right up to it, but since I love hiking I think it’d be a fun thing to do. And if I was lucky enough to go on a clear day the view would be amazing.
- Cooper Canyon Falls
Speaking of hiking, I’d definitely like to hike through Cooper Canyon Falls. It’s just over three and a half miles, and at the end there is a WATERFALL. What better way to close off a hike?
- Wizarding World of Harry Potter
What kind of reader would I be if I didn’t visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios? I’ve already been to the Warner Bros. Studios in the UK and I had the best time, so I’d want to visit WWoHP to get another fix. I wonder if their butterbeer is better than ours…
