2018 is looking to be a great year for new releases. I can’t remember feeling this excited about 2017’s prospects (although that might have been because I wasn’t really paying attention) but this year I am SO. DAMN EXCITED. About everything! All the books! I’ve had to split this post up because there are so many books that I want to mention. Which 2018 releases are you looking forward to? Have you read any already? Which ones should be at the top of my wishlist?
The Illuminae Files finale is hopefully going to be just as good as Gemina, if not better. I was on the fence about Illuminae, but Gemina made me really excited for the final book in the series. And I need more books that are written in this style!
Another series that I am loving is wrapping up next year. I can’t wait to see what the gang gets up to in this one, and how everything is going to be sorted out! I love this fantasy series so much.
This is about a girl from Saudi Arabia called Zarin who dies in a car crash in Jeddah. Her story is told from various points of view, by the people who gossiped about her and those who have heard said gossip. I imagine this is going to be a powerful read!
I loved Marieke Nijkamp’s debut, This Is Where It Ends, so I absolutely HAVE to read this one. This is about a girl whose best friend dies, and who is then pushed away by her community.
Children of Blood and Bone is a fantasy set in the magical land of Orïsha. It’s based on African folklore, and I am dying to get my hands on it.
The main character, Mei, is Taiwanese-American and is about to start as a freshman at MIT. The thing is, Mei is to study medicine, but she hates germs and biology lectures. I think this one sounds hilarious!
To be honest, I just really like the title and cover of this one. In Gunslinger Girl, the USA has been broken up after another Civil War, and the main character sounds like a bamf.
LGBT, necromancers, fantasy… This sounds amazing.

I’m looking forward to so many of these, but Obsidio is topping my list too I think! 🙂
