I used to go a little bit crazy with the reading challenges, but as the years have gone on my life has gotten busier and I don’t have the time to dedicate to reading like I once did. Despite that, I’d still like to take part in a few challenges other than the usual Goodreads Challenge (I’m aiming for 5 books. lol.) and I figured I’d share which ones I’m doing!
A to Z Reading Challenge
This challenge is a popular one that has been around for years. I’ve not taken part before, but I’ve decided that I own enough books now that I can realistically take part without spending any more money on books to fill in the letters. I’ve dedicated an entire shelf to this challenge and I’m really looking forward to trying it out!
Beat the Backlist 2018
This is another challenge that’s going to help me reduce my TBR. I’m planning on reading a tonne of books that I already own, which means I’ll be reading books released before 2017 and therefore I will COMPLETELY CONQUER THIS CHALLENGE. Maybe. I hope.
Debut Author Challenge
I take part in this challenge every year because I really enjoy promoting and supporting debut authors. I think I’ve done this challenge six years in a row now and I’m not planning on stopping. I figure that since I’m only aiming for twelve books, it won’t have too much of an effect on the other challenges that aim to reduce my TBR pile. I haven’t decided on which debuts I want to read yet because there are so many out there.
A Series A Month Challenge
The A Series A Month Challenge might be a little bit ambitious considering I’m not the best at continuing on with series… or at reading. But I have a tonne of series starters that I figure I could try to get through some of them.

Let me know what challenges you’re looking forward to doing this year! I might add some more if I get the inspiration!
Good luck! I’m also participating in Beat the Backlist. A great way to read those books from your shelves. 😀
There are a whole lot of challenges here so I dread to think how many challenges you used to try and do. I am also doing the Beat the Backlist challenge, it will help empty my shelves and combines with my plan to request fewer ARCs this means I will read more books from before 2018 because my shelves will be emptier, I am determined. I always like the sound of the A to Z to challenge but I think I’d really struggle with it but it does sound really cool so good luck! And a series challenge! That’s a good shout, I am terrible at finishing series so I hope you manage to get reading a few more series.
Good luck with your challenges!
I don’t participate in many because I forget/ feel like reading books that never fit the challenge haha. This year I’m participating in one rune by the Australian YA Bloggers book on Goodreads (it has monthly prompts and you earn points for reading books that match them) and the generic Goodreads one. It’d probably be good for me to sign up for Beat the Backlist too haha
