I’m very excited for all the reading plans that I have this year. I always have a great reading month in January because I am so hyped to read new things and hit all of my goals, so I’m hoping this month will be no different. I’ve got some really exciting buddy reads coming up, and I’m hoping to achieve my goal of marathoning a whole series, as well as exploring some settings that I’m less familiar with.
Buddy Reads
I’ve got two very exciting buddy reads coming up this month! Firstly, I’m planning on reading The Kingdom of Copper by S A Chakraborty (with Judith @ Paper Riot) as part of our Daevabad readalong. We’re reading one book a month in the lead up to the release of The Tapestry of Fate in May. We’d love for you to join us!
I’m also going to be reading The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson (with Justine @ I Should Read That), which I have hopefully already started by the time you’re reading this post. I bought this one when it released and I’ve been watching it slowly gain some popularity over the past few months, so I’m excited to see what everyone is talking about.

Series Marathon
One of my goals for 2026 was to marathon one series each month, and for January I have chosen The Band by Nicholas Eames! I bought stunning editions of Kings of the Wyld and Bloody Rose from The Broken Binding, and the cover art is making me excited to dive in. If you’re keeping track, this does mean that I have four massive fantasy books to read in January, but I believe in myself and my abilities.

For my non-fiction read of the month, I’ve picked out Sins of My Father by Lily Dunn. This is a memoir by a woman whose father was in a cult. I’ve read a few books on similar topics and I’m quite fascinated by the whole idea, so I’m looking forward to reading this. If I want to pick up another non-fiction book in January (which is a possibility since I’ve really been in the mood for non-fiction lately!) I might start Black and British by David Olusoga.

And, finally, the three books I’ve chosen to fill the “reading about places or events that I’m less familiar with” goal which I still have yet to come up with a name for, I’ve picked out The Great Divide by Cristina Henriquez (which is about the building of the Panama canal), The Silence of Bones by June Hur (which is set in Korea in the 1800’s) and Disappearing Earth by Julia Phillips (which is a thriller book set on the remote Siberian peninsula). I’m very excited to get to all of these!

What will you be reading in January? Are you focusing on any goals in particular or are you just vibing?
