Debut Showcase: May 2018

debut showcase

Since I fell off the blogging bandwagon a couple of years ago, I wasn’t able to keep up with one of my favourite features on my blog. I absolutely love discovering new authors, and I love supporting the YA newbies, so this feature is one of my favourites. I wanted to bring it back this year because I’ve already read some great 2018 debuts, and I hope to read many more! Without further ado, here are the debut authors whose books are out in May.

May Debuts

Furyborn / My So-Called Bollywood Life / Always Never Yours / Brightly Burning / Ship It / The Poppy War / The Lies They Tell / Song of Blood and Stone / Out of the Blue / All of This is True

2018 Debut Recommendations

Devils Unto Dust / The Queen’s Rising / The Perfect Mother

I haven’t read many outstanding debuts since my last post, but these are the three that I would recommend the most. Devils Unto Dust is a thrilling horror story about zombies in the south, and it captivated me the entire time. It’s also pretty brutal. I think it has been optioned for a movie as well, which is exciting! The Queen’s Rising is a well written fantasy (that really would have been better as a standalone) and I was very intrigued by the politics of the world, while being very let down by the romance. I also really enjoyed The Perfect Mother, which is an adult thriller about a woman whose baby goes missing. It was an exciting read, and I only had the slightest idea about who could have done it.

Most Anticipated for June

The Perfect Mother sounds really good. I’ll have to check it out. I am also really excited for All of This is True. Have a good week!
