top ten 2017 books

1. The Nowhere Girls by Amy Reed

This is my most recent read and it has shot right into my top three. It was amazing. The Nowhere Girls is an incredibly important book that addresses rape culture in the USA.

2. Love, Hate, and Other Filters by Samira Ahmed

This is the first of two 2018 releases that I read recently. It’s about a Muslim Indian American girl and her experiences in regards to high school, friendship, relationships, and Islamophobia.

3. The Dangerous Art of Blending In by Angelo Surmelis

This is the second of the 2018 releases that I adored! The Dangeorus Art of Blending In is a beautifully written about a gay Greek-American boy and his abusive family. It was a tough read because I struggle to read about domestic abuse, but it was absolutely wonderful.

4. Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

I loved this one so much more than Illuminae!

5. These Things I’ve Done by Rebecca Phillips

This one had me in tears.

6. Far From the Tree by Robin Benway

Again, I cried. Far From the Tree is about three siblings who were separated and adopted (or fostered) separately and had three very different experiences.

7. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

8. Traitor to the Throne by Alwyn Hamilton

9. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

I don’t know why it took me so long either.

10. The Ship Beyond Time by Heidi Heilig

There’s going to be a third book, right? RIGHT?

I’ve only read three of these, but I immediately added The Nowhere Girls and Love, Hate & Other Filters to Goodreads. Thanks for the recommendations!

    Here’s my TTT. 😊

Oh my gosh yes, I totally need a continuation after The Ship Beyond Time. I buddy read that one last month and we both felt the same way. I still have to get to Gemina but I guess I’m just not as excited as everyone else has been though I really liked Illuminae.

I keep meaning to finally get to The Hate U Give. Fingers crossed I’ll get to it between now and the New Year, but if not it’ll definitely be one of the first books I read in 2018.

The Far From the Tree boo looks brilliant too. I’ve just checked and my library doesn’t have it yet, so I’ll have to keep an eye out!
