A couple of years ago, I put together this very same post<\/a>, and since I’m back to blogging I thought I would have a look at how my reading is going these days. I had a scroll through my old post and got a little bit sad because the amount I’m reading has changed massively, but whatever, I’m loving this year regardless. I used Crini’s spreadsheets<\/a> to put this post together.<\/p>\n

Okay, so my TBR is kind of a lie because I’ve been reading tonnes of books on my Kindle and I don’t count those books on my TBR because my biggest issue is space. But I’m keeping it that way anyway because it looks good. Anyway, I’m really pleased with the thirty books that I’ve read so far this year. If I keep up this pace during the second half of the year I’ll be a very happy bunny.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\"monthlies\"<\/p>\n

Most Active Month:<\/strong>\u00a0June, in which I read 3363 pages! I was back to my old self. It was because I had a week-long beach holiday in Greece, so I doubt it’s going to happen again any time soon.<\/p>\n

Happiest Reading Month:<\/strong>\u00a0April and July, with\u00a0an average star rating of 3.3.<\/p>\n

Most Expensive Reading Month:<\/strong>\u00a0I’ve only spent \u00a310 on books this year, and \u00a37.99 of that was in February. I’ve been buying books on my Kindle using a gift card (which is now almost out of money) so I’ve done really well.<\/p>\n

This was “only” 570 pages. I’m planning on reading some behemoths at the end of the year so this will definitely change!<\/p>\n

As you can see, I’ve mostly been reading standalones this year. I’ve made a conscious effort to read the standalones that are on my shelves before I read the series starters or sequels in an attempt to keep my TBR down. I don’t want to get into a series and then feel bad about reading the next book. I’m going to marathon a couple of series that I already own all the books for, but mostly I’m going to be whittling away at the standalones until later on this year.<\/p>\n

Contemporary!<\/p>\n

This was surprising, considering I tend to read mostly fantasy books. I guess there are a lot more contemporary\u00a0standalones on my shelves than any other genre. 37.5% of the books I have read so far this year were contemporary novels, and 21.9% were fantasy. Science fiction and thriller books are in joint third place at 12.5% each.<\/p>\n

Male authors:<\/strong>\u00a025%<\/p>\n

As expected! The number of male authors I’ve been reading lately has actually grown because I’ve been reading more adult books, and the adult books on my shelves are mostly written by men. The YA books are almost exclusively\u00a0by female authors!<\/p>\n

On average I’ve been reading\u00a057.9<\/strong> pages a day. I’m so ashamed! This is awful. I’ve not been reading every day, which has obviously brought down my average. I’m going to try my best to up this at least a little bit over the next six months. This means I’ll have to read more books, or bigger ones!<\/p>\n
