Top Thirteen Books I Read in 2013
I read a bunch of fantastic books in 2013. In fact, I think this is my best year yet, if you take into account the volume of tears I cried. Because that’s how I know I loved a book, you guys. I couldn’t stop at just ten books, so I went with thirteen. And even that proved difficult but I didn’t want to mess this up. So, in no particular order, here are my favourite books of the year. If you click on the book title, it will take you to my review of the book. Feel free to link up your posts in the comments!
10. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
Ninja Girl says
What is “Here Without You”???? I didn’t know Tammara Webber had another book out–maybe I just missed it? Anyway, I have to go check that out now! Great list ๐
Ninja Girl
Amber (Books of Amber) says
It’s the fourth book in the Between the Lines series! I think a lot of people missed it, haha. Definitely check it out!
Mel@Thedailyprophecy says
Tiger Lily, If you find me and Scarlet are the best. The last two made it in my top 15 books of this year too ๐ I really want to get started in Pivot Point and I promised you I will be reading How to kill a mockingbird a while ago and I will! Going to be part of a reading challenge.
Amber (Books of Amber) says
*twirls around* TIGER LILY IS FABULOUS. How have you not read Pivot Point yet?! I had no idea! And I’m still waiting for you to get to TKAM. Mwahaha. *stares*
Ula (Blog of Erised) says
I only read Scarlet off this list but loved it. Achilles, Tiger Lily and more of Ness are my top priorities in 2014. ๐ I heard so many great things about them all.. ๐
Happy reading and Happy New Year!

I approve of your priorities. Now go forth and read them!
Shamara Catama says
I haven’t read any of the books from your list but I’ve read The Knife of Never Letting Go and it is on my all-time favourites list so I’m really looking forward to getting to read The Ask and the Answer in 2014
Amber (Books of Amber) says
The Ask and the Answer is so much better than TKONLG, if that’s possible! I adored it.
Lanaia M. says
Scarlet and To Kill a Mockingbird made it on my list too! I haven’t read any of the others, so I definitely need to check them out. I need to start on Patrick Ness soon and The Song of Achilles looks like something I’d love.
Amber (Books of Amber) says
Hehe, you have excellent taste. The Song of Achilles is AMAZING, I’ve been recommending it to everyone and everything.
Debbie Turner says
Unbreakable? Pivot Point? ELEANOR AND PARK? 2013 has been an awesome year!
Amber (Books of Amber) says
THE BEST YEAR.
Kara_Malinczak says
If You Find Me still has my heart. I cannot WAIT to read Cress!
Amber (Books of Amber) says
Cress was soooo good, but not as amazing as Scarlet. Probably because I don’t have a giant girlcrush on the main character XD
Lisa Schensted says
THE ASK AND THE ANSWER.
How amazing is it that the second book in a series is SO DAMN GOOD?!
Oh all the tears these books will pull out of your face.
Amber (Books of Amber) says
FREAKIN’ AMAZING. I’m so looking forward to reading MoM. It’s going to break me.
Unlucky Primes says
!!!
The Song of Achilles! This made my list this year too. Oh, Patroclus! (I just went and read your review, and I agree… I don’t know how anyone could be coherent after that ending.)
Amber (Books of Amber) says
YAAAASSSSSS, excellent choice! I love meeting other people who loved TSOA. Everyone needs to read it.
M. says
It’s so nice to see To Kill A Mockingbird on your list. I loved that book in high school, and keep meaning to re-read it. I did books published in 2013 for my list (since I also wrote a 2013 roundup post and didn’t want to be repetitive), otherwise Eleanor & Park would have been on my list for sure. I’m looking forward to checking out Altered and Pivot Point – I’ve heard so much about both of them! Also you have just added a ton of new books to my list. Which is always a good sign!
Amber (Books of Amber) says
I can’t believe I hadn’t read it until this year! I feel like a failure. But I’m so glad I finally got to it. *cries* I always love adding new books to people’s lists!

13! Love it. So happy to see If You Find Me, and E&P on your list. I haven’t read that Tammara Webber book, but I loved Easy so I’ll have to look for it. Pivot Point is another one I’ve heard good things about.
Thanks for sharing your favorites! Happy new year and happy reading ๐
Amber (Books of Amber) says
Hehe. I haven’t read Easy so I don’t know how the two series compare, but Between the Lines is fantastic! Love it. AND PIVOT POINT! YOU HAVE TO READ IT.
Ellen Zacarias says
To Kill a Mockingbird has been on my to-read list since, like, forever. Thanks for reminding me! I’ve heard a lot about Scarlet. And cheers for E&P! Happy New Year!

Scarlet’s on my list too (the Lunar Chronicles are awesome) and I love To Kill a Mockingbird! It’s so sweet and powerful all at once. ๐ I also really need to read Tiger Lily and Eleanor and Park, I keep hearing so many good things about them!
Thanks for dropping by my blog,

Amber (Books of Amber) says
Heeeee, definitely try to pick up Tiger Lily ASAP! It’s absolutely amazing, and the prose is to die for.

I’ve heard SUCH good things about Pivot Point. I’ve read & liked Kasie West’s The Distance Between Us so I’m excited to finally read it.
Amber (Books of Amber) says
Kasie West is a fabulous writer, and Pivot Point is sooooo much better than The Distance Between Us! Definitely give it a go.
Betty BookRock says
I need to read so many of these! One I’ve been putting off for a while is Unraveling!! I’m happy to see Unbreakable on here– that means it must be a good series! Eeeep… Altered!!! I am so ready for Erased! Only a week away!!! I’m nervous about the Tammara Webber book! I liked her writing– but didn’t really like some things about Easy (if that makes any sense? haha) so haven’t read anything else by her. What do you think? Should I give it a shot?
Amber (Books of Amber) says
UNBREAKABLE IS THE BESTEST. Erased is coming out so sooooon. It makes perfect sense! That happens to me all the time. I haven’t read Easy, so I don’t know, but Between the Lines is a brilliant series that starts out as just “Great” and then the fourth book is skdfhnshfh. AMAZING. Do it!
Jessica @ Books: A true story says
AW To Kill a Mockingbird gave me chills when I read it. I adore that book. I loved Pivot Point this year too ๐ You had some great reads in 2013!
Amber (Books of Amber) says
Me too. I want to reread it soon because it’s absolutely amazing. The movie is also fantastic!
Fahima M says
Lol this is embarrassing, but I’m still (technically, since I lent it to a friend) reading Tiger Lily, two weeks later *blushes*. Jenny Han and Patrick Ness are some of the authors I’m looking forward to reading this year ๐
Looks like you’ve had a great year, Amber! Happy New Year! <3
Amber (Books of Amber) says
Nooooooo, how could you do that?! GET IT BACK XD Patrick Ness will destroy your soul.
You too, dearie <3

I hope you manage to get to them soon! As you can tell, I loved them!
Stephanie (Hopeless Romantics) says
I haven’t read quite a few of these although Altered was a good book. Excited for Erased to come out soon or have you had the chance to read it? I’m excited =)
Amber (Books of Amber) says
I’ve read Erased but I desperately want to reread both of the books soon! I adore that series!
Wendy Darling says
Ooo, I’m glad you liked TIGER LILY and UNBREAKABLE and IF YOU FIND ME and TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD! Some of my favorites, too. ๐ I need to get off my butt and read SCARLET sometime soon.

Well, you have fantastic taste! WHAT?! How could you not have read Scarlet? It’s a lot better than Cinder, in my opinion. Definitely get off your butt soon ๐
