I haven’t done one of these in a while! I have kind of missed doing the lists to be honest, so I jumped at the chance to share my Autumn to-be-read list. I like to do this every season, even though I don’t get to many of the books that I actually list. But still, it’s a nice thought, right? And in case you somehow were not aware, Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
1. Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
Obviously, I have already read and reviewed Heir of Fire, but I want to read it again because it is the most flawless freakin’ book and I want to devour everything again. Since I wasn’t a huge fan of Throne of Glass (I thought it was very standard), I want to reread the entire series so far so that I can get another feel for the characters now that I love Celaena and know more about the others. Plus, I have The Assassin’s Blade to read soon and I can’t do that without rereading the other books. Because logic.
2. The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks
I’ve been wanting to read this trilogy for sooooo long, and I am finally in the mood for some assassins and fantasy, so The Way of Shadows is being pushed to the top of my pile. I bought the whole trilogy in the local charity shop for about £3, so I hope I love this one enough to marathon the entire thing in one go.
3. The Well of Ascension and The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson
THE FINAL EMPIRE WAS FLAWLESS AND IT RUINED MY LIFE AND I AM TERRIFIED OF CONTINUING BUT I CANNOT WAIT BECAUSE OH MY GOD VIN AND OH MY GOD KELSIER AND BRANDON SANDERSON CAN YOU LEAVE ME ALONE TO DIE PLS THANK YOU
4. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
I started reading this with a group of ladies who I know from Booktube, but I fell way, way behind when I went to Germany and now they’ve sped ahead and I’m stuck where I am. Not that it’s their fault at all, but I’m kicking myself for not keeping up. I want to continue with this book because I was really enjoying the setting of historical Scotland, and it was surprisingly easy to read. Soon, Jamie, soon.
5. The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson
Or Judith will kill me.
6. Deadline by Mira Grant
Or Meg will kill me.
7. The Martian by Andy Weir
Or Tatum will kill me. And also because Spartacus is on the front cover.
8. Dark Places by Gillian Flynn
Tatum and I are reading this one together this week and it’s going to be so much fun. That was sarcasm because I read Sharp Objects a couple of months ago and it was anything but fun. It was one of the most disturbing books that I have ever read, and if I had to label only one book as “macabre” then Sharp Objects would be that book. But Dark Places is going to be awesome anyway, I know it.
9. The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
See reason #7, but ignore the Spartacus bit.
10. Ashes to Ashes by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian
DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS I DONT THINK YOU QUITE UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM GOING THROUGH AT THE MOMENT
———————————
So, what about you? Let me know which books are on your TBR for this season. Have you read any of the ones that I’ve mentioned above? No? THEN WHY HAVEN’T YOU READ HEIR OF FIRE?!?!?! Ehem.
I haven’t put any Sanderson on my list but I will definitely read some more of his books this year (I think Elantris and Warbreaker).
Heir of Fire <3 OMG! That thing that happend to that character at the end.. *dead*
The Martian is AWESOME!
Rereading books is the best thing there is. I also went ahead and reread Crown of midnight + The assassin’s blade. I finished Heir of fire yesterday and it’s perfection. I can’t wait to reread it too. I liked Outlander, I should pick up this series again. THE BITTER KINGDOM. YES. *All the feelings*
Heir Of Fire is on my list too. I’m doing a re-read of Assassin’s Blade at the moment so obviously I will get to experience HoF awesomeness soon!
Basically YES to everything on this list!
I love Outlander! I’ve only read the first book so far. They are kind of daunting by their size. Do you watch the show? It is really good!
MY TTT
BITTER KINGDOM YES YES YES
The Bitter Kingdom is so good! I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did (which is a lot).
Rae Carson, oh man. I reallllly need to make time for her. And um. You loved Heir of Fire so much you’re now thinking about a series re-read?! Clearly I need to finish Crown of Midnight immediately so I can dive into Heir of FIre!
“Soon, Jamie, soon.” Haha, I like that!
Ah, I need to read Outlander too! I’ve had a copy for so long but haven’t really wanted to read it until I saw the show. Now I’m OBSESSED and seriously need to read the book. Great list!
-Jessica (Peace Love Books)
Awesome list 🙂
Totally agree with your thoughts on ToG series. I didn’t like the first book much teh first time round but I can’t wait to reread!
Cora @ Tea Party Princess
I’ve just become a Throne of Glass convert, and I’m new to the whole Fantasy thing (bar Harry Potter, because Harry Potter), but I’m finding once I get into it, I’m LOVING it, so now I need to go look up all your recs on here (I’ve already oogled Mistborn) and buy them all for Christmas pressies, to me, from me! 😀
R x
i wouldn’t kill you for not reading shadow of the wind, i’d just frown a lot. BUT READ THE MARTIAN DAMNIT
Ooh you’re making me want to pick up Sharp Objects like right now! I liked Dark Places and hopefully you’ll like it too 🙂
The Shadow of the Wind isn’t a book that I see around the blogosphere, but it is a book that I absolutely ADORED. I read it on my honeymoon, on a beach in Montenegro, which seems completely backwards since it’s a darker novel, but it was so freakin’ fantastic that I didn’t even care. I think it’s the perfect summer read and I hope you like it too!
DO YOU RESPOND TO BRIBERY HOW DO I GET DEADLINE AT THE TOP OF THE PILE?
The Bitter Kingdom is my favorite of that series! You can’t stop after the second book, Amber! Hector <3333
The Shadow of the Wind is a great book – hope you love it!
