Elena Michaels is a wanted woman. Ten years ago she was transformed into a werewolf by her lover. Her transformation makes her powerful. But in the wrong hands, it also makes her deadly.

And now, just as she's coming to terms with it all, a group of scientists learns of her existence. They're hunting her down, and Elena is about to run straight into their trap. But they haven't reckoned on Elena's adoptive family, her Pack, who will stop at nothing to get her back.

They haven't reckoned on Elena, either. And that's a very big mistake ...

You might remember that I was forced into reading this series. Tatum bought me Bitten for my birthday because she loved it after Lauren made her read it last year. I was hesitant about it, and I had a few issues with the book after reading, but I really enjoyed Bitten. So, obviously, I had to read Stolen so I could get more Elena.

Kelley Armstrong, #1 New York Times bestselling author, takes an exciting new direction with this big, breathtaking blend of fantasy, romance, horror, and pulse-pounding action, perfect for fans of Graceling and Game of Thrones.Twin sisters Moria and Ashyn were marked at birth to become the Keeper and the Seeker of Edgewood, beginning with their sixteenth birthday. Trained in fighting and in the secret rites of the spirits, they lead an annual trip into the Forest of the Dead. There, the veil between the living world and the beyond is thinnest, and the girls pay respect to the spirits who have passed. But this year, their trip goes dreadfully wrong. With all the heart-stopping romance and action that have made her a #1 New York Times bestselling author, and set in an unforgettably rich and dangerous world, this first epic book in the Age of Legends trilogy will appeal to Kelley Armstrong's legions of fans around the world and win her many new ones.

I think this is meant to be a high fantasy? It…felt like that…to me…?? As you can tell, I am really good at this genre lark. Anyway, Sea of Shadows kicks off Kelley Armstrong’s new YA Age of Legends series. I love Kelley Armstrong (as evidenced by my frequent emotional breakdowns over her Women of the Otherworld series as well as her Darkest Powers YA trilogy) but Sea of Shadows is basically just okay – it’s not fantastic, which I generally expect from her at this point, but it wasn’t terrible either.

Elena Michaels didn't know that her lover Clay was a werewolf until he bit her, changing her life for ever. Betrayed and furious, she cannot accept her transformation, and wants nothing to do with her Pack - a charismatic group of fellow werewolves who say they want to help.

When a series of brutal murders threatens the Pack, Elena is forced to make an impossible choice. Abandon the only people who truly understand her new nature, or help them to save the lover who ruined her life, and who still wants her back at any cost.

I have to. I’ve been fighting it all night. I’m going to lose.
Bitten is one of those books that I have picked up to buy multiple times, but have always swapped it for another book that I deemed more important, or one that I was more excited for. Thanks to the new Canadian TV show, and the fact that this is Lauren’s favourite series ever, I finally managed to pick it up. Or, rather, Tatum bought it for me for my birthday so I had no other choice. It was either this, or read Code Name Verity, and I don’t want to be destroyed just yet, thank you.

This series was recommended to me by a friend ages ago and I finally got around to reading the first book in the series recently because she finally told me the title of the series she’d spent months yelling at me to read >.>

So the first book in the series introduces you to Elena, the only female werewolf in existence. Elena’s main conflict throughout the book is related to how she was turned – bitten against her will, betrayed in the worst way by the one person she loved most. At the beginning of the book, Elena is living in Toronto away from her Pack, trying to live as normal life as possible but a series of murders draws Elena back into her old life when she’s asked by the Pack to help. Elena is the best character, seriously. Girl has rage issues, a tragic past and is so effortlessly sympathetic while never falling into a stereotypical ‘poor me’ role. She fights tooth and nail for the ones she loves, never hesitating to hurt and kill anyone who threatens her or anyone she cares about. Continue reading
