I am bringing a new feature to the blog! Over the past year or so, I’ve been posting Rank It videos on my Booktube channel. Well, I’ve posted three so far, but no matter. My point is, they’ve proven to be very popular, and I wanted to bring the list-making-awesomeness over to the blog so that my readers could experience it as well.
Rank It is basically an excuse to make lists. I rank books (from a series or by a single author) in order of my favourite to least favourite, or best to worst. I love lists, and I love books, so I thought this would be the perfect combination. To start with, I’ll be essentially be copying the series and authors that I focussed on in my videos, but I’ll stretch out a bit once I’ve caught up.
If you would rather watch me rank Harry Potter, A Song of Ice and Fire (so far), or Gillian Flynn‘s books, then you can click on those links and they’ll take you to the videos. Now, on with the list!
#5 – A Clash of Kings
A Clash of Kings is so dull that it took me over a year to read it. Nothing was happening, and I honestly can’t recall any major events.
#4 – A Game of Thrones
It took me ages to finish A Game of Thrones as well because I had already seen the first season on TV and I knew what was coming. I didn’t enjoy it that much because of this, but it was still better than ACOK.
#3 – A Dance with Dragons
So I’m not really following the crowd here. I thought A Dance with Dragons was really entertaining, mostly because I got to laugh at some of the characters and there’s a lot of Dany. And dragons. The Jon Snore bits were slightly better than in previous books, which I appreciated.
#2 – A Storm of Swords
This is everyone’s favourite book in the series and I can see why. THE RED WEDDING. And it’s a pretty awesome book, I must say. But again, I had already seen some of this book adapted for TV and it killed my enjoyment a little bit. Just a tad.
#1 – A Feast for Crows
And here I am, completely going against what everyone else says. A Feast for Crows is, in my opinion, a fantastic book. It’s the first book that I was absolutely blind going into, and I had no idea what was coming. The Lannisters and the Martells are my favourites to read about, and they’re pretty much the entire book. I found AFFC to be a lost faster paced than the previous books, aside from maybe ASOS, and I just loved everything about it. Especially Dorne.

I just want to say YESSSSSSSSSS someone else whose favourite is A Feast For Crows! THANK YOU!

Wow, I can’t believe A FEAST FOR CROWS is actually your favorite ASoIaF book! That was by far my least favorite books in this series because all my favorite characters weren’t in it and I was so glad when I arrived at A DANCE WITH DRAGONS and they were all back 😀
Of course A STORM OF SWORDS is my favorite book, too, because the Red Wedding was just awesome and also JOFFREY MUAHAHA 😀
Here’s my ranking:
#1 A Storm of Swords
#2 A Dance with Dragons
#3 Game of Thrones
#4 A Clash of Kings
#5 A Feast for Crows
