me in october
October was a hectic month even without blogging for two thirds of it. I took an unplanned hiatus last month because I was getting really stressed out with real life stuff and I couldn’t find the motivation to blog or do Booktube. I’m still not back into the swing of things, but I’m trying to get there.
I’m currently in Virginia, USA to spend time with some friends (mostly Dee). I flew out on the 30th and we did the whole Halloween thing where we went trick-or-treating (Dee escorted the children from house to house while the other adults and I stayed in the car) and then we had a party with a bunch of Navy folk. And Jesus.
A couple of weeks ago I went to Fright Night with a friend and while the queues were awful, we managed to luck out and get on quite a few rides. We went in two of the mazes – The Big Top and My Bloody Valentine – and I think we managed to go on about ten rides. It doesn’t seem like much, but considering the queues were 40-90 minutes long, I think we did quite well.
Another friend had an engagement party, which was lovely, and on the same day Tatum and I went to the Gollancz Festival at Piccadilly. We had a great time, and I was a little disappointed to have to leave early. I’ll probably be buying all of the books that were mentioned (I already have The Boy with the Porcelain Blade) because the authors did an amazing job of selling their stuff to us. Tatum and I are already looking forward to next year’s festival!

book of the month
movies & tv
- Once Upon a Time – I’m all caught up and I’m enjoying the current season. Some parts are really freakin’ boring (Henry and his love life… snore) but other parts like Captain Swan and Arthur/Merlin *swoon* are great. I’m a bit disappointed by the Dark One, but at least we’re getting shipping angst. My favourite thing.
- From Dusk Til Dawn – I started watching this show in September and I’m about halfway through season two. I’m really enjoying it, mostly because I have found a couple of crack!ships. My life is complete.
- Ant Man – I watched this on the plane to the US. I did like it, but I wouldn’t say it’s the best Marvel movie. Paul Rudd is adorable, but I didn’t love the relationship between him and Kate from LOST, or the one between him and his daughter. I don’t know, they were just lacking chemistry. The humour was on point though.
looking forward
I’m spending another week in Virginia before I have to go home. We don’t have many set plans, but we will be having a giant Thanksgiving dinner on the 5th. Yes, we’re doing it early while everyone is here before they leave the state or country.
IT’S MY BIRTHDAY MONTH! I’m turning 23 on the 14th and for once I’m actually doing something for my birthday. A group of us will be going to Brick Lane in London for a curry before going out to a bar.
That is pretty much the entirety of my plans for November. I’m hoping it’ll be a calm month, but something will probably happen!

I really liked Illuminae at first because it was different and I was loving Ezra but eventually lost interest and wasn’t able to finish it 🙁 I’m setting it aside for now. I’m reading Dangerous Girls this month! I’ve wanted to read it for so long and I am excited. I have heard so many great things about it.
Happy birthday in advance!

I can see why you lost interest. I almost did towards the beginning! I’m not too bothered about the characters to be honest, I just really liked the way the story was told. Let me know what you think of Dangerous Girls!
