Monthly Wrap Up: February 2017

As expected, February was ridiculously busy. I crammed so much into such a short month that I’m kind of physically and mentally exhausted, and I think I need a weekend to just veg out on the sofa and read or watch TV.

At the beginning of the month, I went to a small house party where I was forced to watch the rugby (I don’t understand it at all but I’m trying). Aside from that, it was fun. My boyfriend also showed me his hometown, and we ate in a restaurant that is apparently known to give people food poisoning. Oops.

A friend of ours had his birthday drinks, which meant we had to participate in pub golf. This is obviously a British thing, and it’s basically a pub crawl where you have to have different drinks at each establishment and finish them off in a set number of pars. I didn’t take part because I am not mixing my drinks like that… ever. It was a great night, though, and very eventful!

Aside from that, there were a couple of dinners with friends that I thoroughly enjoyed. I was able to talk to some people that I wouldn’t normally talk to, and catch up with a bunch of others. My friend came down from the North for the weekend, and we took a trip to Marlow, Buckinghamshire on the Saturday afternoon.

Success! I managed to read three really good books, and read more than I did last month. I call that a win.

Movies & TV

The Lego Batman Movie – My friends and I went to see this last week (some of us were more enthusiastic about it than others) and I ended up enjoying it. It was good. What I enjoyed more was my boyfriend’s reaction to it, and the fact that he’s been quoting it for several days now.

Vikings – We finished The Legend of Korra (!) so now Vikings is our next joint project. I’ve already seen the first season, but it was years ago when the show first aired, so I’m enjoying the rewatch and I’m excited to continue. Lagertha is still my favourite character, as predicted, and I still freaking hate Ragnar for the shit he pulls later on in the season, but I’m having to keep quiet about that.

Orphan Black – I am finally up to date with this show! YES! I didn’t love this season as much as the earlier ones, but I’m too attached to the characters now to stop. I loved so many moments this season, particularly Helena’s and Alison’s. The main plot felt a little dull, though, and I started to tune out towards the end. I’m glad I’m caught up in time for the final season when it airs this summer.

My Best Friend’s Wedding – The fact that I hadn’t seen this movie before now is a travesty. I was scrolling through Netflix, and was in the mood for a female-led comedy, so I picked this. I’m so happy I did, because despite being absolutely exasperated by Julia Roberts’ character, it was still a fun movie and it is just. so. quotable. The gif shows my favourite moment. And now I’m in the mood for a similar movie so I’m going to have to get searching.

Looking Forward

I’m hoping March is going to be much more chilled than February was. My friends and I are planning to do a trip to the London Dungeons at some point, but finding a day where we’re all free is pretty difficult. Other than that, my plans are to catch up on sleep, and hopefully de-stress a whole lot. I want to try to start my travel blogging thing in March, as I’ve now got a couple of trips planned and I want to talk about places that I’ve already been to.
