Me in April
So many things happened in April that I don’t know where to start. I guess I’ll go with the most recent thing – my trip to Edinburgh! Technically, the majority of my trip took place in May, so I won’t talk about it too much here because I’m planning on doing a series of posts on my travels. But I took the train to Edinburgh on the 30th and I had the most amazing time. It was great to have some time off work, which had been stressing me out recently.
Earlier on in the month I passed my theory test after doing almost no practise or revision. Oops. This is actually the second time I’ve passed the test, as I took it about five years ago. Here in the UK, if you don’t pass your practical driving test within two years of passing your theory, you have to take your theory all over again. I’m determined to do it this time, just to get it out of the way!
I attended a friend’s wedding and it was the most wonderful night. They had fireworks and a chocolate fountain, and the DJ also played some great music. Like Britney’s entire album, because my friend is a superfan.
My company has started up a social committee, and I’ve signed up for a few clubs and events. The two that took place in April were the first book club meeting (we read The Girl in the Red Coat), and a board game night. The book club meeting was great fun and it was great to talk to people from different departments who I wouldn’t normally speak to, and board game night was good but awkward and tiny. I’d go again, though!
Two friends and I signed up for this exercise boot camp type thing. I don’t really know how to describe it, other than by saying it’s mainly circuit training run by ex or current military instructors, and the first session nearly made me throw up. It happens in my area twice a week, and by signing up I’m also allowed to go to sessions in surrounding areas, which is great. I’m hoping it’ll spur me on to get fit and toned, especially as I’ve got two friends doing it with me.
And, lastly, I was killed off in the Bookish Games! I was part of the Prentisstown Mafia, and while I did have a lot of fun, I think the Games were one of the leading causes towards my stress and anxiety last month! They take up a lot of time and planning, especially if you’re part of the Mafia. Like I said, though, they were fun and I met loads of new people so I would definitely sign up again.

Book of the Month
Movies & TV
The 100 – IT’S STILL SO GOOD. I am loving season three, and while I think some aspects can be viewed as problematic, they’re really only the smaller aspects to me. Don’t kill me. Like, there’s ONE thing that I have a problem with out of the various different storylines and moments of the show. I think now that the 100 are back together (kind of) the show is a lot stronger. I think it tried to be too Game of Thrones-y at the beginning of the season, and there was FAR too much focus on Clexa at the expense of Clarke’s character. She was just sitting there with nothing to do, and was pretty much reduced to a love interest. People didn’t have a problem with this because they ship(ped) the fuck out of it, but if a show is going to put an LGBTQ+ ship at the forefront then I want it done right, and I don’t want it to fuck over my favourite characters.
But anyway, BELLARKE.
Captain America: Civil War – STEVE AND BUCKY AND BUCKY AND STEVE AND ALSO WANDA AND “I REMEMBER ALL OF THEM”
Luther – I got into Luther last month and now I’ve got five episodes (?) left. I think. I’m at the beginning of season three. But anyway, it’s a show about the serial and serious crimes department in London, where John Luther and his husband partner, Justin Ripley, get into the minds of serial killers, sociopaths, and psychopaths and try to figure out how to catch them or how to link them to various crimes. The first episode grabbed me when a highly intelligent woman called Alice killed her parents and her DOG and got away with it, and Luther tried his hardest to find evidence to prove she did it. The crimes themselves get creepier as the show goes on, and I’ve had to check under the bed on many occasion to make sure there’s no one under there wearing a mask, ready to slaughter me.
The Huntsman: Winter’s War – This wasn’t the best movie by any means but it’s not as awful as the critics are saying. Chris Hemsworth was an entertaining person to watch, and I got to see my true love, Charlize Theron, again. The special effects in this franchise are also beautiful. What I didn’t like, however, was how Kristen Stewart and her character were dropped and barely mentioned, and then my ship (Snow White/Huntsman) was completely crapped on and ruined. *cries*
The Jungle Book – This film was beautiful and epic, and I cried the whole way through because of the special effects, the animals, the story, and the music. TRULY WONDERFUL 10/10.
10 Cloverfield Lane – This was intense. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, and I had no clue what to do with myself when I left the cinema. I wanted to hide behind my friend during some scenes because the tension was just too much!
Looking Forward
First of all, I’M GOING TO GREECE IN TWO WEEKS. I can’t wait! I’ll be off for six days with Tatum. We’re staying on the Athens Riviera, and like my trip to Edinburgh, I’m planning on vlogging the whole thing. Although it might consist of me lying on the beach every single day. I’m also having a final dinner with Lili before she leaves to go back to the USA. Yes, already. When I’m back from Greece, I’m off to a concert. I’m going to see Busted again! They were my first concert years and years ago, so it’ll be great to see them again. I still haven’t forgiven Charlie though. Then there’s The 100 finale, which airs the night before I go to Greece so I’m going to be pleasantly exhausted. And, finally, I’m hoping to launch something really exciting, something that I’ve been planning for two years. I don’t know if it’s definitely happening in May, since I’m going to be so busy, but it’s in the works and ALMOST ready.
