September’s to be read pile was a complete flop because I got so busy that I only had time to read one book. One! I’m so disappointed. But on the plus side, I’ve got a few quiet weekends coming up, and I’m planning on reading alllll of the books now that the flat is in a decent state.
In October, I’m planning on knocking out a tonne of my review copies so I don’t have those hanging over me. #ARCtober, anyone? Dewey’s Readathon is coming up soon so I’m hoping to whiz out a few then.
Last Argument of Kings by Joe Abercrombie
I’m currently just over halfway through this. I would have finished it last month, except I’m buddy reading it with Quill and he’s fallen slightly behind. I’m really enjoying this one, though!
Love, Life, and the List by Kasie West
Because Kasie West’s books are ones I just have to read.
The Dangerous Art of Blending In by Angelo Surmelis
I received this one from the publisher and I’m really curious. The main character is Greek, and also gay or bisexual. The blurb mentions him kissing guys, so I’m leaning towards gay, but who knows?
Mother, Mother by Koren Zailckas
I’m going to read this short one as part of my month of thrillers and horror! I love October.
The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli
Everyone is raving about this! I have to read it!
I’ve had this one for the longest time, and to be honest it’s mostly the fact that I’ve never read anything by Joe Hill (except Locke & Key, of course) that has been putting me off. Do I want to commit to a massive book by an author I’ve never read? Apparently I do.

“One book is still better than none!” is something I tell myself often when at uni. I’m lucky if I can finish a book in two weeks haha. Hopefully we both get more reading time this month!

Very true! I always get a bit disappointed when I only manage a couple of books, but at least I’m reading something. Most people don’t read more than ten books a year, let alone two each month! Hopefully you’ll have time when you break up for the summer 😀

I’m curious what you’ll think about “The Fireman”. I took me ages to decide whether I wanted to read it or not since I found Joe Hill’s “NOS4R2” incredibly boring and was also disappointed by “Locke & Key” but I found the blurb of this one really interesting. In the end I decided to go with the German audiobook since it was narrated by my favorite narrator and I was glad I did. The story was rather slow (which I already had expected after my first Joe Hill experiences) but I liked the characters and the narration really helped me to stay entertained – I can’t really say if I would have enjoyed the book just as much had I read it by myself though…

I’ve never read anything by Joe Hill so I’m a bit nervous. I’ve heard his writing can be slow. I might listen to a sample to see if that helps if I start to struggle!
