It’s time for the first Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon of the year and I am SO. EXCITED. Dewey’s is my favourite readathon because I always tend to get the most stuff read and I love the intensity of the twenty four hours that we spend together reading and crying and trying not to sleep. I’ve picked out a bunch of potential reads, but I don’t have a goal this time. I’m just winging it! I’m going to see the new Avengers movie tomorrow so that’ll cut into my reading time a little bit, but it might be nice to have a break. We’ll see!
First of all I picked two short books that have been on my shelf for years. I’m trying very hard to cut my TBR down this year by buying fewer books and reading my way through my backlist. I figured Dewey’s would be perfect for doing that! Academy 7 is, as far as I know, a science fiction novel that’s under 250 pages long, and Darkness Becomes Her came out when I was a baby blogger of just four months, and EVERYONE was going on about it. It’s time to see what all the fuss is about!
I decided that I needed a series to marathon and since Meg (<3) was kind enough to buy me these two books for Christmas, I thought they were perfect for the task. They’re fairly short, and I’ve been assured that they’re easy to marathon, so I’m doing that at some point. Also, Lion Heart is out next month so this is flawless timing on my part, non?
Lastly, I thought I would probably need some light contemporary reads before the twenty four hours are over to prevent me from throwing myself out the window. Adorkable is one that I’ve had for ages and I’m not entirely sure I’m going to like it (that cover is atrocious as well) but it’s now or never. And Geek Girl is Geek Girl and I am a terrible UK blogger who hasn’t read it yet. Oops.
And there you have it! What are you planning on reading tomorrow? Are you prepared or are you winging it? Are you planning on staying up for the full twenty four hours? Have you lost your mind?
