Did the debut authors decide to team up against us fragile readers this month? Did the publishers plan an avalanche of debuts to unleash upon us and leave us quivering? I’m not going to lie, researching this month’s debut novels was frightening. There are just so many of them! I haven’t included every release in this post and there are still a load of them out there. Wow. Tell me which ones you’re reading in the comments below!
The Violet Hour by Andrea L. Wells
To be honest, I just like the title and the cover. The Violet Hour is about a girl who tries to uncover family secrets.
Made You Up by Francesca Zappia
This is about someone with schizophrenia, which isn’t a perspective that I’ve read from before.
Becoming Jinn by Lori Goldstein
I’ve never read a decent book about genies so I have my fingers crossed for this one.
Love Fortunes and Other Disasters by Kimberly Karalius
Have you noticed this title trend? I don’t know whether I like it or not.
Scarlett Undercover by Jennifer Latham
“Perfect for fans of Veronica Mars.” VERONICA. MARS.
This sounds kind of like Indian women are in fucking control and are weeding out the men. I must tell Tatum.
Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton
I don’t really like books about ballet or music schools, but I might give this one a go eventually.
The Novice: Summoner by Taran Matharu
I am here for a fantasy novel set in an academy. Aw yiss.
Wow, you weren’t kidding about the number of debut authors releasing books this month. That is quite a list. I’m most looking forward to Made You Up, because I’ve heard good things and it’s not something I’ve read about in YA fiction before. I also adore the cover.
oh wow ballet? i love books about that! I will definitely be checking that one out

To be honest, the only two I knew about were Becoming Jinn (which I want to read) and The Novice (which I want to read but have heard mixed reviews about.) But I’m very much a cover shopper and I see some nice ones up there. I’ll have to take a deeper look at these books and add a few to my never ending TBR.
So many amazing books! Made You Up and 5 to 1 are both on my TBR for sure.
Amber – I’m so incredibly flattered and humbled to have landed a spot on your post. Gosh – thank you!! Or should we just go ahead and thank my cover designer because she’s the genius behind that design?! 😉
If you do decide to pick up The Violet Hour and take it for a spin, I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to contact me via my website or on Goodreads.
PS – I’m thrilled I stumbled upon your blog too – it’s perfect! I’m totally enamored with it’s simplistic, easy-to-use design. Kudos to you!! Definitely one of the Top Ten blogs I’ve visited in the last 2 weeks (which was over 300 blogs) while on my release week tour. <3
