Epic Recs

Horror and Thriller Recommendations for October

I don’t normally do themed reading months but October always gets me quite excited for spooky reads! I’ve put together a list of some of my favourite horror books, but in case ghost stories aren’t your thing, I’ve also included some thrillers that will keep you on the edge of your seat. So grab a blanket and some steaming coffee, and we’ll get started. Let me know which books you’d recommend for the upcoming spooky month!

Through the Woods by Emily Carroll

The first story in this one was definitely the strongest, but it was all pretty enjoyable.

Locke & Key by Joe Hill

I love this series so much! It’s super dark, so be cautious going into it, but it’s so good. It’s about a family who have to find various keys that do different things before the villain gets them.

Epic Recs: November 2014

Hey hey! Welcome back to another month of Epic Reccing. Judith is still in a bit of a reading slump due to university (boo!) but I actually managed to read an Epic Rec last month! Not October’s rec, but still. I’m awesome. The book I read was OPEN ROAD SUMMER and it killed me. To death.

This month, we’ve both picked some incredible recommendations. In our own opinions, anyway.  Continue reading

Epic Recs: October 2014

epicrecslogoEpic Recs is back for another month! Even though we both keep failing miserably at reccing and reading, but we have reasons. Like work and university. Good reasons. Anyway, last month I managed to read ONE of the recommendations that I was supposed to catch up on, and I don’t think Judith managed to read any. But oh well! I’m recommending epically anyway because that’s what I do.

This month I want Judith to read THE FINAL EMPIRE. Because ha. Haha. HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHA *collapses* *wails*. And Judith wants me to read THE HECTOR KINGDOM. Er, I mean, The Bitter Kingdom. Yes. That.

Epic Recs: September 2014

Wow, so this is something that you haven’t seen in a while! Truth be told, both Judith and I kind of forgot about Epic Recs over the summer because we both had so many other things going on. We’re back now! *dances wildly* We’re going to be doing things a little differently this month because we’re both behind on a few books. So, instead of recommending new epic books during September, we’re going to be using this month to catch up on the books that we’ve missed.

Epic Recs: May 2014

A few months ago, Judith and I started up an impromptu book club called Epic Recs. The aim of this was to force each other to read books that we have previously loved. You know, because Judith is a self proclaimed book pusher, and I just like forcing people to do things.

A few months ago, we opened Epic Recs up to the public, and in December a hell of a lot of people signed up, either to be paired by us or after pairing themselves. Judith and I are so pleased at Epic Rec’s success. We truly hope everyone enjoys this as much as we do!

This month we’re doing the same thing, there’s a form you can fill in if you want to be paired with another person, or you can sign up right away with someone of your choosing using the Linky. BUT please note that we’re very behind with pairing people up. We’ve both been really busy lately, but we’re hoping to get the emails sent out soon. Something to bear in mind if you’re thinking about signing up for a partner.
