Bout of Books has finally come around again, and here I am, sharing my TBR as usual. This week is probably going to be fairly busy since I’m working for five days and I’m also back at the gym and I’ve just started a new study schedule. Plus, I’ve started up my Dutch lessons again after a fortnight-long break. So this week is going to be completely manic, but I’m going to try to get a bunch of books read.
The first thing I need to do is finish The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. I started this on the 1st and am currently about 400 pages in. I have the gym tonight, but I’m hoping to get another hundred or so pages read today so I can finish it tomorrow. It’s so boring and I’m just trudging through it at this point.
After that monster is done with, I plan on finishing a couple of books that I’m in the middle of. Is this cheating? Nah, I don’t think so. I started these two books ages ago, but I put them down for one reason or another and then I kept forgetting to pick them back up again. The first is The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner, which everyone recommended to me waaaay back. I read about three chapters and I couldn’t get into it, but I want to give it a fair go because everyone seems to love it. The second book is The Spartacus War by Barry Strauss. I’m loving it, but my issue with it is that I already know all the stuff that happens! It’s a non-fiction account of, you guessed it, the Third Servile War, and I’ve read and watched and researched so much about Spartacus that I could probably read the book in my sleep.
If I do somehow get through those three books, I have picked out a couple of others to get me through the rest of the week. I might do a day-long reading sprint on Saturday between my Dutch lessons and my revision and try to get one of these read. Those two books are Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein (*shrieks*) and A Long, Long Sleep by Anna Sheehan.
Have you read any of these? Are you taking part in Bout of Books? Tell me all about it!
