Bout of Books 11 was definitely the most successful Bout of Books yet! For me, at least. I don’t think I have ever read so many books or pages during this event before, because I tend to be better at the 24 hour readathons rather than the week-long ones. But with a little help from Judith (who I was racing, as usual), I was able to read a total of SIX books! I know, I don’t know what came over me either.
I began reading at 8AM on Monday morning, and I finished off 66 pages The Future of Us right away. Then I was able to start The Way of Kings Part 1, which I was reading with Crini. I freakin’ loved it, and was able to finish the 594 page beast on Thursday. Now I just need to start Part 2! On Friday I had a day off work, which was fabulous because it meant that I could dedicate the entire day to reading. I started and finished Sacrifice, which was 432 pages, and read most (290 pages) of A Thousand Pieces of You. I could have read more but I took a lot of breaks and got distracted by video games. Oops. I read the last 78 pages of A Thousand Pieces of You on Saturday, and then spent the whole day playing Dishonored on my laptop. Then I got my butt in gear because Judith was winning, and I flew through The Fires of Calderon that night, which was 352 pages. Yesterday (Sunday) I went off to London with my mum and my sister, and didn’t start reading until we got on the train to return home. I sped through The Things You Kiss Goodbye (368 pages) and finished it at about 9PM, after taking many breaks to watch Youtube videos and also Jurassic Park 3.
Books read: 6(!)
Pages read: 2180(!) (I like this round number)
Comments posted: 68 (I went on a comment posting spree on Sunday morning because for some reason I woke up at 6AM)
Chats chatted: 2 (This is great because normally I only do one. Or zero.)
Best book: The Way of Kings Part 1
Worst book: The Future of Us
My goal for this Bout of Books was to get through a bunch of my review copies, which I have admittedly been neglecting lately. Out of the six books I read, four of them were review copies, so I think I did quite well! I would have liked to have read more, but four is still fantastic considering my non-review copy, The Way of Kings, was nearly 600 pages long.
For now, I’m off to catch up on my scheduling (I seriously neglected it), and post some comments. I cannot wait to take part in Bout of Books 12 in January, and I hope to see you all there!
