Ashfall is a story set during the apocalypse, which is unusual to say the least. Usually in YA, the apocalypse has already happened and the characters are trying to survive in a society that has already broken down. In Ashfall, however, the supervolcano over at Yellowstone (an actual thing, by the way) erupts at the beginning and our main character’s world is thrown into chaos. I loved reading about the breakdown of society as we know it and I think it would make for an incredible movie, or series of movies!
I am always here for more World War II movies, and I think Between Shades of Gray would be a great choice. Not only does it have a main character who goes through an incredibly heartbreaking journey, it also focusses on an area of the war that isn’t focussed on all that much. We have all seen dozens of movies about the Nazis, but have you ever seen or read anything about what happened in Eastern Europe? It’s not taught in schools in the UK, and I think it should be.
Fairytale retellings are so in right now thanks to Once Upon a Time and Disney, so how perfect would it be if someone made a movie from Tiger Lily? I think I would die. And I would love to see Native Americans cast in various roles, and have a Native American woman play Tiger Lily, the main character. How awesome would that be? And I might actually pass out if I saw Tiger Lily and Tinker Bell on screen together. *faints*
This movie would fuck everyone right up, wouldn’t it? Aside from the diverse set of characters that this movie would have (the main character is gay, FYI), it would have a Matrix-like feel to it and I think the audience would love it. They’d come out of the cinema like we came out of the book: thinking, what the fuck was that?
Ashfall sounds super interesting, as the Yellowstone supervolcano is my favorite way to scare people with science. I would love to see that in a movie.
I have actually not read any of those books, but now I am really interested in Ashfall.
Tiger Lily as a movie, YES PLEASE. It would take a good director though, because it would suck if they screw up the casting by getting rid of Tiger Lily’s heritage. It would be interesting to see how Tinkerbell is written into the story. More than this is such a mind-fuck, it would be fantastic as movie.
