It’s already 2015 but I wanted to take a look back over last year and talk about all the awesome things that I did. 2014 was a great year for me. Sure, there were downs, but there were mostly ups, and I had so many new experiences.
The first thing that happened to me is also relevant to you guys is that I moved my blog from Blogger to WordPress. I do plan on doing an actual post dedicated to talking about how my move went, and the differences between the two sites, because I want to go into more detail. But basically the move was painful (I did all of it myself) and incredibly frustrating. I love WordPress and the options it gives me, but I also really like Blogger.
I also met two very important people in 2014. The first meeting happened in March, when I went to stay with my bestest friend and co-captain. Her name is Dee. This might not sound very exciting to you, but it was for us because we were finally able to meet in person after a few long years of only talking via the internet. I went to stay with Dee and her amazing family in Virginia, and made friends with her sister and her nephews. It’s officially the best trip I have ever been on, and I hated having to leave them because it basically became my second home. I’m going back this summer and I’m counting down the days.
Then in November I stayed with Judith, as her family was kind enough to let me stay over when I went to Amsterdam for the weekend. Basically, they’re all lovely too and they spoke in English pretty much all night and it made me very emotional. And also jealous that they knew so much whereas my Dutch is limited to “ik weet het” and “ik ook”. (Not really but still.) When I go back I am determined to beat them all at MarioKart.
In July, I was promoted at work, which is great because I had only been working there for a year at that point. I’m loving my new role, even though I only do it for half the week. This promotion happened shortly after I moved house, and couldn’t have come at a better time.
I’ve already covered two of my travels, Virginia and Amsterdam, but I also went to Germany to stay with my family for just over a week. I love travelling, and I’m so happy that I was able to visit two new places in 2014. I don’t have any set plans for this year yet aside from going back to Virginia and going to Amsterdam again at some point, but I’d like to go back to Rome soon, and also visit some place new. Possibly in Greece or Spain. Who knows? I’m lucky enough to be able to go pretty much anywhere in Europe since everywhere is so close and it doesn’t take much time to travel around.
I also attended a couple of events with other bloggers. YALC was a lot of fun, although very stressful. I’m looking forward to the next one! And Tatum and I also attended the Divergent premiere which was a great experience (and also a really good movie!). I met a bunch of fellow bloggers like Mel, Rinn, Gaby, Jasprit, Debbie, Rita, and so many others. 2014 was a great year for that, and I hope I can attend some other events this year!
Overall, 2014 was a pretty great year and I hope I have just as much fun in 2015.
