It’s almost time for my favourite event of the year! Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon! The readathon has been running for an entire decade now, and I have been taking part for five or six years. It’s always an exciting twenty four hours when the book community gets together to chat about books, marathon some books, and encourage each other.
I’ll be updating my progress on Twitter this time around because it’s faster than updating the blog post. I’ll probably start a thread or something.
It’s time for my favourite event of the year! I couldn’t be more excited. For the first couple of readathons I’ve had to cut my time short (or not read at all) because I was so busy and things kept cropping up. This time the stars aligned and I’m not doing anything apart from a quick food shop and sleeping. WIN!
Here’s my potential TBR. As always, I’m not expecting to get to all of them but I would like to read at least three, especially since I’m already in the middle of both Ivory and Bone and The Secret Speech. I’ll be starting the readathon by finishing of Ivory and Bone, and then reading The Fill-In Boyfriend for some light contemporary fluff from one of my favourite authors. After that, it’s a free-for-all! Which ones would you recommend?
It’s time for the first Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon of the year and I am SO. EXCITED. Dewey’s is my favourite readathon because I always tend to get the most stuff read and I love the intensity of the twenty four hours that we spend together reading and crying and trying not to sleep. I’ve picked out a bunch of potential reads, but I don’t have a goal this time. I’m just winging it! I’m going to see the new Avengers movie tomorrow so that’ll cut into my reading time a little bit, but it might be nice to have a break. We’ll see!
It’s that time of year again! It’s time for the autumn edition of DEWEY’S 24 HOUR READATHON! This readathon is my absolute favourite because it’s fast paced, and it puts just the right amount of pressure on me to read quickly, without annoying me or putting me off reading all together. I try to take part twice a year because I always have so much fun reading for 24 hours straight!
That’s a bit of a fib because I never read for the entire 24 hours. I tend to get about 16 hours of reading done before I need to collapse. This year I’m going to attempt to take a very short nap on Saturday night, since the readathon starts at 1PM for me, and then continue reading through the night when the house is quiet.
I’m not setting many specific goals, but I would like to get at least two books read. This means I will have to read smaller books rather than longer ones, so while I would love to read another Brandon Sanderson book, I don’t think that’s going to happen because those books deserve my full attention and all the time they need.
Possible reads include:
Hook’s Revenge by Heidi Schulz
I received this one for review but I still haven’t gotten around to reading it. I want to change that this weekend because it sounds fantastic, and I have a current fascination with Captain Hook, which may or may not be related to the character on Once Upon a Time.
Date: Saturday 26th April 2014

It’s time for the first 24 Hour Readathon of the year! I’ve taken part in a few readathons during my time in the blogosphere, but Dewey’s has to be my favourite. I always get so much more read during a 24 hour readathon like this rather than during the ones that span over several days. I think it’s because I feel the pressure more, and since it takes place on a Saturday I am able to stay up and get ALL THE BOOKS read.
