New Releases: October 2018

october

Here’s a list of my most anticipated new book releases for October 2018. I’ve included a wide range of books here, and a lot of them will probably slip under my radar by next month, but it would be amazing to be able to read all of these. October is such a good release month and there are so many books that I’m looking forward to!

october new releases 1

Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas
Release Date: 23rd October 2018
Guys. GUYS. It’s the final book! As I’m writing this post, I’m currently two books behind on this series. But I plan to marathon them so I can get to this when it comes out. I don’t want to say goodbye to Aelin, though!

The Boneless Mercies by April Genevieve Tucholke
Release Date: 2nd October
The Boneless Mercies is a standalone YA fantasy about four mercenary girls who have to save a town from a monster. It’s a Beowulf retelling and I think it sounds incredible. Perfect for Halloween!

Dry by Neal Shusterman
Release Date: 2nd October 2018
I’ll read anything Neal Shusterman writes because his Unwind series is one of my favourites. Dry is about one of my favourite things (to read about, that is) – the apocalypse! There’s a massive drought and people are running out of water. My excitement for this one is off the charts!

october new releases 2

A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi
Release Date: 16th October 2018
I’ve already read A Very Large Expanse of Sea and I loved it! As someone who hated (haaaaaated) the Shatter Me series, I was hesitant to read this but I figured Mafi’s writing would have improved by now. And it has. It bloody well has. This book was incredible and the main character was wonderful and the ROMANCE WAS AMAZING. I never say that, so trust me when I tell you it’s fantastic.

What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera
Release Date: 9th October 2018
This is another one that I’ve already read. I enjoyed it. It was cute and fluffy and everything that I thought it might be.

Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa
Release Date: 2nd October 2018
This one is about a half kitsune main character, and it seems to be a fantasy with dragons!

october new releases 3

The Light Between Worlds by Laura E. Weymouth
Release Date: 23rd October 2018
I’ve not seen much hype for this one but a handful of people seem really excited for it. It’s about two sisters who are transported to a magical realm during war time, and they come back very different people. Think historical Every Heart a Doorway, minus the murders.

Beneath the Citadel by Destiny Soria
Release Date: 9th October 2018
Hopefully I’ll have already read this one by the time this post goes up! I think it sounds really good. It’s a LGBTQ+ fantasy with prophecies (YASSS) and seers (WOOOO). Consider me intrigued.

Odd One Out by Nic Stone
Release Date: 9th October 2018
I wasn’t a fan of Stone’s debut novel, Dear Martin, but I’m curious to see how her writing has improved with this one. It’s a contemporary novel with LGBTQ+ elements, and lots of (hopefully) wonderful friendships.

october new releases 4

The Brilliant Death by Amy Rose Capetta
Release Date: 30th October 2018
I haven’t seen many people talk about this one, but it’s another LGBTQ+ fantasy about a mafia don’s daughter. I’m not really sure what the plot is, but do you really need to know more?

The Royal Runaway by Lindsay Emory
Release Date: 9th October 2018
Okay, so this isn’t the kind of thing I’d normally be excited about since it sounds like a generic cute contemporary, but hear me out. The princess in this one needs to find out why her ex left her on her wedding day, so she and the new love interest (who isn’t the love interest at the start but you can see where it’s going to go) start looking into it more. I’m mostly excited because she’s a princess and I have been feeling that Princess Diaries vibe lately.

That Night by Amy Giles
Release Date: 23rd October 2018
This is set a year after a mass shooting occurs in a small neighbourhood. It follows two teenagers who have both been affected by the shooting in different ways. Jess is looking after her mother, while Lucas has overly protective parents. They meet, and I imagine they start to bond.

Gosh, new month new releases gods, when will it end *but still shamelessly loves being killed by her TBR*. I see you anticipating Kingdom of Ash too, I am on a marathon now, I recently finished The Assassin’s Blade and Queen of Shadows am currently on Empire of Storms and I am floored by the writing development of SJM.

And Shadow of the Fox sounds really really really good!

There are so many new releases this month! I think the one I’m most excited about is Dry, I love Neal Shusterman.
I have to say, I love this blog post, the layout and information you have provided is so easy to digest and well formatted.

I’m so excited about A Very Large Expanse of Sea, I’ve been trying to resist buying a copy until I’ve read some of my other books. Will you be reviewing it soon? 😀
