Me in January
The most exciting part of January was probably my return to book blogging. I’m still way, way behind on commenting and on finding out about all the new releases, but I’m slowly catching up. I realised a couple of weeks ago that I’ve actually missed the blogging community a lot. I’m enjoying having this as a hobby again, and it helps that I feel very chill about the whole thing.
In other news, I’ve had my car for over a month now, and I’ve been busy getting used to it. It was a bit of an ordeal to park it at first because I wasn’t used to the size or mobility, but I feel like I’m slowly getting the hang of it. Really, really slowly. I have been on the motorway a few times, but it’s pretty scary so I have kind of been avoiding it. But baby steps! I’ll get there in the end.
My boyfriend and I went to see Cirque du Soleil in London with a couple of his friends. I have to say, I really freaking enjoyed it, and I already want to go and see it again. The circus was one of my favourite things as a child, and seeing the acts be performed bigger and better was incredible. The Lizard Man was definitely my favourite part. I couldn’t take my eyes off him when he had his solo bit going on.
Obviously not the Lizard Man
Oh, and we booked our first holiday! We’re off to Carcassonne, which is a fortified town in the south of France. It’s going to be a short trip, really, since we’re only going for four days, but I’m really excited for it. I mentioned in my 2017 goals post that I want to start travel blogging, so I expect to take tonnes of notes and photos while I’m away.
Other than that, there were the usual cinema trips and a house party, the latter of which Tatum came down for and we had a fantastic time. Like I said to her, it was lovely to have almost (*glares at Dee*) all of my favourite people in one place for the first time ever.

Yeahhhhh. I’m still getting back into this reading thing.
Movies & TV
The Legend of Korra – I introduced my boyfriend to ATLA last year, and since he loved it (he has such good taste) we decided to watch this show together. We’ve just finished book three and shit has gone down. I’m super excited to see how it ends! #korrasami
La La Land – I gave into the hype and went to watch this. I can see why it won so many awards. It’s not my favourite movie ever, but I really did enjoy it. And there were definitely tears at the end.
The Man in the High Castle – My friends and I were watching Westworld as a group each week, and since that ended we were looking for a new show to watch together. I suggested TMITHC, and I’m super glad that everyone agreed because it’s brilliant. I keep getting
judged laughed at for liking John Smith so much, but he is just such a great character.
February is set to be super busy already. There’s a housewarming party happening this weekend, then a friend’s birthday drinks next week. He has decided that we all need to play pub golf, which is basically a bar crawl where you get points for certain drinks. I’m not going to be joining in with that part, but I’m sure I’ll have fun regardless. I’m also planning to go out to dinner with a couple of different groups of friends, which will be nice because none of us have done anything together for ages. So I’ll be busy socialising this month, which is completely different to how I spent February last year. I’m hoping to still get some reading done, though. Maybe.
