on the blog
I reviewed Crown of Midnight, which was a pleasant surprise since I didn’t love Throne of Glass, and The Fiery Heart which wasn’t as great as I had hoped. I shared my favourite places that I visited in the USA in March, and Tatum shared her favourite books of the year so far in a fantastic list. On the Fence was another hit from Ms. West, and The Book Thief movie made me cry my heart out. Tatum didn’t like Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea as much as she had hoped, which is disappointed because I wanted to read it. Say Her Name is a pretty decent horror story – BLOODY MARY! I wrapped up my first five days in the USA, which were a blast. Tatum shared her thoughts on The Name of the Rose and, lol, almost succeeded in putting me off reading it. Can I have more psychological thrillers like The Half Life of Molly Pierce, please? Tatum’s last review of the month was for LGBT Month: The Night Watch. I posted a new Famous Last Words post, and I’m excited to continue sharing my favourite last lines with you all! And, finally, I posted a belated book haul which is already out of date. Oops?
me in june
June was an insanely busy month for me, and I took every opportunity to rant on Twitter about how hectic it was. I’m sorry I put you all through that, but it had to be done in order for me to stay sane! The first major thing to happen was my Youtube channel reaching 3000 subscribers. That’s crazy! And I really appreciate it, so thank you to everyone who has subscribed to me and who watches my videos.
Then, I moved house. Yeah. I’m no longer living with my mum and my siblings, and instead I’m living in a bigger house with only my grandad, about five minutes away from my mum’s house. It was scary and upsetting, and I really didn’t want to leave my little sister, but it kind of had to be done. I have a bigger room now, though, which means MORE BOOKS. This is also the reason why I have been so broke this past month, in case you were wondering why I was suddenly poor and living off SuperNoodles. Hopefully my financial situation will change in the next couple of weeks once everything is settled!
On the work front, something amazing happened: I was offered a promotion! I took a weekend to think about it, and I eventually decided to accept. I’ll be doing the same thing as I have been doing (editing) for half the week, and something entirely new and different for the other half. I’m really excited about this opportunity, and I hope I love this new job.
It was also my mum’s birthday, and I took her to a Grease Sing-a-Long in Leicester Square to celebrate. Then on her actual birthday, my village held a Feast Day, which is an event held on the common and everyone gathers there and eats and watches the performances on a stage and there’s a fair and stalls and face painting and food. I love it. Except it rained this year, which put a downer on things.
1. The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson ★★★★★

5. Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo ?????
6. Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn ★★★½
7. The Vanishing Season by Jodi Lynn Anderson ★★
I didn’t read as much as I had hoped because The Final Empire put me in a giant reading slump, and I was insanely busy. I’m still not out of the slump, unfortunately. *twiddles thumbs*
book of the month giveaway
I thought I would let you know that I haven’t yet picked the winners for my last couple of giveaways due to the financial issues mentioned above. I thought it would be unfair to choose the winners and then to be unable to send out the books, so I’ve been waiting for things to improve. Everything’s better now, so by the time this giveaway ends, I will be able to send out all the books!
This month I’m giving away a copy of The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. Did anybody not see this coming? The giveaway is international, and it ends on July 31st!
looking forward to…
I’m looking forward to starting my new job this month now that I’ve been promoted. I’m going to Comic Con with Tatum in a couple of weeks and I’m going to meet Rinn and Claire and a bunch of other bloggers. I’m off to Germany shortly after that to stay with my aunt, uncle, and cousins for ten days. And Bec and I are continuing with the planning of our Raven Cycle Readathon event!
